PROXY 2.0
Procurement assistance is one of the more popular services provided by PROXY 2.0. Regardless of the economy, the federal, state and municipal governments must provide essential services and are mandated to competitively procure them. If this is not a market for a company, it should be. The government buys everything from computer hardware to construction services
The key is to make government procurement a targeted, constant market channel. A company needs to look at trends in purchasing, who buys what, bidding requirements, government tendencies, bid influencers and how the process works.
But, companies need to be wary. Many lobbyists and consultants promise that they
can “guarantee” a government contract. This is at minimum misleading and at most, potentially illegal. A lobbyist can get you an introduction. A lobbyist can assess your competition. A lobbyist can advise you on how to structure an R-F-P response. But, a lobbyist should not set your price or prognosticate how a bid evaluation will be conducted.
PROXY 2.0 will:
þ Track federal, state and municipal appropriations
þ Monitor procurement opportunities
þ Provide competitive analysis
þ Arrange key introductions
þ Attend bidder conferences
þ Develop strategies to increase the client’s public sector profile
PROXY 2.0 also helps companies identify other funding opportunities, such as public sector financing. This includes identifying opportunities with federal, state and municipal agencies. Many times, the key will be developing a strategy that will blend multiple programs to fulfill a client’s funding needs. Below are examples of PROXY 2.0 procurement and funding identification (non-grant) activities:
þ Conducted a seminar for SPSS that educated City of
þ Developed a comprehensive procurement plan focused on municipal homeland security opportunities for TechAlt. This included monitoring federal appropriations and educating municipal entities on how to access funds.
